Of course you have questions! We’re here to answer them.
At Doulas of Orange County, we know you love your little one and we know you want the best for your entire family. We also know you may have anxieties, misconceptions or fears about sleep training, what it means, what it entails, and what your child will experience. These feelings are 100% valid and normal. With so much contradictory information at your fingertips, of course you have concerns! We’re here to listen to you, to help you get clear on what you want and to figure out if our program is right for your family.
when can i start sleep training my baby?
We believe between 4 and 6 months is a common and appropriate age to start helping your baby to sleep through the night. That said, it’s never too early or too late to start implementing good sleep habits! If your baby is younger than 4 months we have some questions to determine if it's an appropriate time to start our program. You can also talk to your pediatrician about the optimal time based on your baby's developmental leaps & progress.
are we talking about cry it out?
This is a common misconception about sleep training - that all methods are "cry it out" methods. That is not how are program works. But to be completely transparent, there is always the possibility of tears. One of our main goals is to minimize them! You and your Sleep Coach are actively involved with making decisions based on what you observe together rather than passively letting your child cry behind a closed door. If your baby or toddler has distinct needs, that you as a parent, need or want to address, we would never tell you to ignore those parenting instincts!
It really only takes 3-5 Days?
As long as your baby or toddler is healthy, developmentally ready, not teething, and we’re supporting you with one of our live-in packages, our program will have your kiddo sleeping better in 3-5 days and nights. Yes, we know that sounds too good to be true, but we do it all the time! Will it be perfect after we leave? No, but what in life ever is?! This is why we provide 4-5 weeks of unlimited support to work things out in the month following the live-in support.
how do you Ensure success?
Here’s our promise: We will not let you fail. We interview each prospective client carefully so that we can ensure success. If we don’t sense that we can help you, we’ll tell you so. We’re committed to our success rate. Even though our program is designed to support you over the course of a month, if your baby gets sick or your toddler starts potty training and you experience a setback (whether big or small), we’ll stick with you until you get to the other side and feel confident managing on your own… even if that goes over the four-week program.
What is your payment & refund policy?
Full payment is due in order to confirm your program dates. Payments can be made by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. If you have a Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) your sleep training may be reimbursable. Contact your administrator to confirm. Sleep training services are non-transferrable, and no refunds are offered.
What if my baby is the one baby this doesn’t work for?
We know this is a huge financial and emotional investment and you may be wondering “What if it doesn't work?" In truth, we don’t work with every family because we can't ensure success for every family. We ask you to schedule a 40-minute complimentary sleep assessment so we will help you determine if this is right for you and make a package reccomendation.
when should i book?
We only take a limited number of clients each month to ensure success. Our desire is to be fully present with you and your family and we cannot do that if we're working with 20 families at a time. Booking in advance confirms our availability AND gives you the peace of mind that more sleep is on the way! Last minute availability, while hard to come by, is sometimes available, so don't hesitate to reach out! We’ll do our best to help you even on short notice.
what if i'm not in Orange County?
While we are based in Orange County, we proudly serve families world wide. Additional travel fees may apply.
We travel regularly, can we still sleep train?
Yes, absolutely! We will start your program in your home then set you up with all the tools you need to make traveling as a family a breeze! We recommend that you don’t travel within 4-6 weeks after the live-in program.
What if my baby isn't ready yet?
If it isn't quite time or you aren't emotionally ready for this process, there are still ways we can help. First, we can schedule your sleep training program for a future date when you and your baby or toddler are 100% ready. Second, we can support you in getting more sleep by matching you with a postpartum doula or newborn care specialist to provide overnight care.
HOW MUCH DOES THIS PROGRAM COST?
We aren’t going to lie, it is an investment to have our one-on-one undivided attention in your home, plus 4-5 weeks of unlimited follow up support. You can read more about our varying packages here and we can discuss payment options and payment plans during your complimentary sleep assessment. If these packages aren’t in your budget, remote coaching may be a better option for you.
Do you accept insurance?
We don’t. However, if you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) connected with your insurance, it’s possible that our Sleep Training Program could be reimbursable. Contact your administrator to confirm.
