What to Expect…

While each doula on our matching service offers their own packages and unique style of care, you can expect that typical birth doula care will include some or all of the following:

After Baby Arrives

• Immediate postpartum, bonding and infant feeding support at home or hospital

• Birth doulas typically offer an in-home postpartum support visit within 10 days after birth

As wonderful and special as it is to bring a new baby into the world, the process can be overwhelming, especially if there are older siblings to consider. Many parents ask, what do I do with my older children during my birth? Should they be present? If so, who will watch them so I can focus on labor?

If these are questions you’re asking yourself, a Sibling Doula is a great solution for your family!

Maybe you are without local trusted family members or your babysitter isn’t available to be “on call” for an extended period of time. A sibling doula cares for older siblings so that you can have peace of mind and focus on the intensities of labor and giving birth.

Whether you are planning to birth at home, hospital or birth center, it can be helpful (and so much easier) if one person is the sole care provider, especially someone who has experience being on call and can help your little ones confidently and comfortably participate in to the arrival of a new baby.

Sibling Doula services may include:

• A “get-to-know-you visit” prior to the birth. This visit allows your doula to spend time with you and your children prior to the birth and becomes a familiar face that your children are comfortable with.

• Emotional and physical support for your older children including childcare, meal preparation, settling to sleep, etc.

• On-call availability surrounding your due date

• Typically includes up to 24 hours of continuous care on the day of your baby’s birth

• Rates vary based on selected time-frame and each doula sets their own rates and on-call fee
